Welcome to the Humane Society of Midland County Orientation Website. We are so excited that you are considering joining us as a volunteer. Our organization relies heavily on our volunteers to help us operate.

A few things to note before getting started

-Volunteers must be 10-15 years of age to volunteer with a parent or guardian or 16 years of age to volunteer independently.

-Any minors that go through this orientation must also have a paper waiver signed by a parent or guardian. This can be found at the shelter or under the FILE SHARE on this site. It is listed as the "Volunteer Agreement and Waiver".

-We do accept court ordered community service volunteers 18 years of age or older on a case by case basis but there is a separate process for these volunteers. Please call the shelter at 989-835-1877 if this is the case, but do not proceed with the online orientation.

- Important documents such as the volunteer waiver for minors, code of conduct, volunteer guides, and other documents can be found under the File Share tab.

The steps to become a volunteer are easy!

1. Watch the orientation slideshow video. It goes over what we do and how you can help us.

2. Complete the volunteer orientation quiz. You must get 100% so please pay close attention to the video. Once you have completed the quiz you will click "Click Here". This will link you to our Volgistics application.

3. Once you complete and submit your application you will receive a welcome e-mail that will overview how to sign up for shifts.
